AutoCare and Approved Garage, David Bray Motor Engineers, have fitted Henley’s first free electric car charge point at their business premises at Empstead Works, off Greys Road.
This AutoCare garage has been at this premises for seven years, and are one of the few garages in the area that service and repair electric and hybrid cars.
David Bray Garage is an approved plug-in service centre and they are inviting drivers to visit their business with any questions they have about getting their plug-in vehicle serviced while they charge. Garage owner, David Bray said:
“These points are the first in Henley and we are very excited about the added value for our Customers!
Electric cars are going to be the future as we move away from fossil fuels. As a garage we need to keep up with the latest technology and as we work on these cars it made sense to install a charging point too. We hope too that it will help bring trade into the town as the nearest point at moment is at the Oracle in Reading.”
The charging points cost about £1,500 and were installed by Pinpoint, which runs a network of 1,500 charging points across the country.
To mark the occasion, the mayor was present to cut the ribbon along with local press.
Henley Mayor Julian Brookes that officially unveiled the charging points on Monday 5th September said: “Air quality is one of our issues and clearly this technology is something we need to encourage.”
