Kevin Toms from AutoCare garage, F.R.L Auto Services in Dartmouth has reached the final stage of the Top Technician 2017 competition. Thousands of technicians from across the country entered the online competition and have been whittled down to five finalists who will compete for the Top Technician status in the final at the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills in Southam, Warwickshire on 13th July.
The Top Technician skills competition was created in 2002 and its continuing mission is to reward technical excellence within the workshop trade and highlight what a skilled and vital role trained technicians have.
Kevin has worked for F.R.L Auto Services for thirty-two years and is proud to be a local boy from Blackawton, showing what expertise can be found in local independent garages. Kevin explained, “A lot of the competition challenges set were not your day to day issues found in an independent garage, but more what you would find in a main dealer. I feel privileged to be in the company of some very highly skilled technicians in what is now the final five, but I have fire in my belly and wouldn't it be wonderful for a local boy to go and win it.”
The winner will be announced at Top Technician Live, taking place on 16th September at the Henry Ford Academy in Daventry.
On behalf of AutoCare, Approved Garages and F.R.L Auto Services parts supplier, Mill Autoquip we would like to wish Kevin the best of luck in the final.
